On September 4, A-PAD Japan delivered 200 mattresses to 2 evacuation centers in Omachi Town. These mattresses were procured through the Social Emergency Management Alliance (SEMA).
SEMA is a network of 51 businesses and 6 NPOs including A-PAD Japan. SEMA mobilizes each member's resources during times of large-scale natural disasters and promptly provides relief items to the affected population.
SEMA puts together a list of items and services each business can offer and quickly provides the listed items at the onset of disasters.
At the evacuation centers, the evacuees did not have mattresses on their temporary beds made of cardboard boxes. Working with SEMA, A-PAD Japan procured and delievered mattresses to those evacuees.
