【Kyushu Heavy Rain 2020 Floods Assistance】Medical Assistance and Evacuation Center Management at Kuma Athletic Park

On July 5, ARROWS provided emergency assistance at an evacuation center set up in Kuma Athletic Park. Many roads have been cut off and access to designated evacuation centers have been difficult for some residents. The Kuma Athletic Center has become the one of the most populated evacuation centers.

ARROWS set up a mobile medical clinic with a partner organization, TMAT, and treated 32 evacuees. Many evacuees left their homes without taking their belongings. They were relieved to receive our assistance as some elderly were injured during evacuation and others could not bring their daily medications.

ARROWS is working with local municipality staff and public health care workers to implement COVID-19 prevention measures and improve the condition of the evacuation center. ARROWS will continue to provide assistance tomorrow.
